hot monday

good morning! i'm not feeling too well this morning...allergies are killing me! and to add to that we just had one of the hottest weekends EVER in portland and i think i am still recovering. so because i just want to hang out in my bathing suit all day because i am so hot (we do not have air conditioning in our little house--ahhh!) so in honor of hottness i wanted to share this vintage suit with you. i fell in love with this one while ago when i first spotted it on all things bright & beautiful--LOVE IT! you can find it at abaete.

gown friday!

almost every friday i try not to put as many pictures of gowns in my post, but each friday its get harder and harder to cut myself off! ...so i'll just continue:)

today i am featuring carolina herrera--her gowns of course are gorgeous, but she offers some amazingly modern embellishments that are just stunning. perfect for the bride who wants to make a statement at on her big day. though these gowns are from her 2009 spring preview collection, the one above (that's my fav!) is from 2008. i think it's so romantic, but in no way stuffy--a beautiful balance of innocence and sexy.

okay, who doesn't want to be monique lhuillier -- just for a day? so when i came across this tablescape done by her for house beautiful it definitely sealed the deal for me. okay, at least could i be one of her close friends? :) what that really means is, her style is AMAZING and i absolutely love everything she does. and it seems that her house is just as gorgeous as her designer gowns! this is perfect for a luxe rehearsal dinner--love it.

i was checking out some edith meyers' cake blog yesterday and check this cake out above...can you guess how she got that toasted marshmellow look to it?? yep, you're right, a blow torch! fabulous! she even has a little pic of her in the process on her blog--and i think the best part is what's inside: each tier includes several layers of fresh organic bananas or strawberries, between layers of chocolate/hazelnut and whipped cream/strawberry combinations. to die for! below are some more examples of edith's wonderful work.

i am in such dire need to see anything that resembles glorious sun and beautiful spring that i wanted to share some pics of flowers today. it has been such a dismal spring for us over her in portland, oregon--and contrary to common belief, we do have sun, not always rain :) and flowers just bring such joy, i just needed a little bit of that today...plus these are some great ideas for any kind of flower decor for your fabulous wedding. i LOVE the hydrangea and calla lily, with over sized palm on the chair!!
